The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya reverberated to the sound of the new breed of Formula 1 cars on Wednesday, with all 10 of the 2022-spec machines hitting the track as pre-season running got under way.
Lando Norris would end the day top of the pile in his McLaren MCL36, ahead of the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz – although Norris was keen to underline that his eye-catching lap times weren’t representative.
And with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and newly-crowned champion Max Verstappen on circuit on Day 1 in Spain – and with Red Bull’s RB18 and Alfa Romeo’s C42 also properly breaking cover – there was plenty to analyse from Barcelona.
