WATCH: Stewards investigating after Ocon crashes in FP3 while avoiding Magnussen
Stewards are investigating after Esteban Ocon crashed out of FP3 while trying to avoid Kevin Magnussen's Haas, an incident that brought out the red flags to end the final practice session of the Spanish Grand Prix.
As Magnussen was on cool-down lap, Ocon encountered the slow Haas on the run up to Turn 4, just moments after letting the Dane past.
Ocon appeared to be taken by surprise by the slow speed of the Haas and had to dodge the car at the last second. He lost control and hit the right-hand wall at speed, ripping his front wing off in the process. Renault have a job to do to repair it with qualifying coming up at 1500 local time, while the stewards announced immediately after the session that they had summoned both drivers and would be investigating the crash.
Renault confirmed that Ocon had been checked by medical staff and was uninjured.
"After the incident, Esteban visited the medical centre for precautionary checks. He’s ok and back in the paddock now. The car is in the garage and being worked on for qualifying," read a statement issued by the team after the session.
