After more than 600 start-ups and scale-ups from 11 countries took part in the Santander X Global Challenge | Countdown to Zero, Formula 1 and Santander announced the winners back in Mexico City.
Santander X Global Challenge | Countdown to Zero was launched earlier this year to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the automotive industry in mobility, logistics and transport, and carbon offset alternatives – supported by Formula 1 as part of a three-year collaboration agreement.
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony held at the Mexico City Grand Prix in late October. Three companies took home the awards from Spain (Cedrion, H2SITE and Zeleros), two from the UK (Concrete4Change and Staxy) and one from Germany (Ucaneo). Other entrants included businesses from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the UK, Uruguay and the US.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “Formula 1 is all about innovation, so it is a pleasure for us to be part of this challenge and see solutions that are consistent with our sustainability strategy and commitment to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2030”.
