Oscar Piastri came out on top in Qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, posting a time good enough for just his second Formula 1 career pole position.
The McLaren driver came into Qualifying at the Bahrain International Circuit having set the pace in practice, and duly converted that pace into the fastest lap – a 1m 29.841s.

It left him 0.168s clear of Mercedes’ George Russell, before the Briton was demoted one spot for a Q2 pit lane infringement, while team mate and Drivers’ Championship leader Lando Norris could only manage sixth after a scruffy Q3.
