WATCH: Ride onboard with Oscar Piastri on his way to P1 in the Qatar Sprint Shootout
Oscar Piastri put in a sublime late effort to take pole for Saturday evening’s Qatar Sprint, as the McLaren rookie narrowly beat out his team mate Lando Norris, sealing a front row lockout for the papaya team.
With the chequered flag being waved, Piastri clocked a final time in SQ3 of 1m 24.454s to beat Norris by just 0.082s. Max Verstappen was third fastest for Red Bull, with the championship leader lap was 0.192s off Piastri’s time.
