WATCH: Ride onboard for Max Verstappen's fastest lap of Friday at the Red Bull Ring
Max Verstappen wasn’t to be headed in Friday practice for the Styrian Grand Prix, posting the fastest time in both Free Practice 1 and 2 at the Red Bull Ring, with his rivals unable to get within a quarter of a second of him.
That performance culminated in him setting a benchmark lap of 1m 05.412s in Free Practice 2, a full 0.336s faster than his former Red Bull team mate Daniel Ricciardo, who wound up P2 for McLaren.
Meanwhile, Verstappen’s chief title rival Lewis Hamilton ended up fourth in FP2, having had a time that would have put him 0.077s faster than Verstappen deleted for a track limits infringement at Turn 10.
But thems the rules, as they say – so ride onboard for the fastest lap of Free Practice 2 for the Styrian Grand Prix, courtesy of current drivers’ championship leader Verstappen.
