WATCH: 'I just did whatever made me happy' – Take an animated trip through Kimi Raikkonen's stellar career
Abu Dhabi was Kimi Raikkonen’s last race for Alfa Romeo, as he retired from Formula 1 after two decades in the sport. The enigmatic Finn is famous for using his words sparingly, but he was kind enough to narrate one last video just for us.
From a childhood spent emulating his big brother Rami, through karting and military service, Raikkonen’s path to Formula 1 wasn’t entirely normal. But in 2000, he nonetheless found himself testing with Sauber at what was then the relatively young age of 20, before a surprisingly swift promotion to a full-time F1 seat.
So, from sleep being underrated, to where he earned his famous nickname, to his 2007 title win, to his emotional final victory in Austin in 2018, go on an animated journey through Raikkonen’s incredible career, narrated by the man himself.
Hit play on the video above to hear just what the Finn had to say as he bids F1 farewell for the last time.
