WATCH: Enjoy the race start at Marina Bay as Perez gets the jump on Leclerc
Red Bull driver Sergio Perez grabbed the lead of the Singapore Grand Prix from Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc as the lights went out at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in slippery conditions.
With dark clouds emptying their contents and soaking the track during the build-up to the race, the encounter got under way an hour later than planned – all 20 drivers running intermediate tyres.
When the action started, Perez charged off the line to get the jump on pole-sitter Leclerc, while the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz moved up to third via some contact with Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes through the tight Turn 1-2 sequence.

Further back, a slow getaway for Max Verstappen saw his Red Bull drop from eighth to the fringes of the points-paying positions, while Alex Albon – returning to action after his recent surgery – went for a spin in his Williams.
