F2: Hauger promoted to Sprint Race victory in Jeddah after Verschoor disqualification

Having taken a dominant victory in the Formula 2 Sprint Race in Jeddah, Richard Verschoor found himself disqualified post-race for a technical infringement, handing victory to Dennis Hauger.
Starting in second, Verschoor bided his time in the early stages before overtaking pole-sitter Paul Aron for the lead on Lap 8.

It was a chaotic start to the evening, one that saw Alpine Academy Driver Victor Martins and his ART Grand Prix car end up in the barrier at Turn 2 on the opening lap, bringing out the Safety Car.
PREMA Racing’s Andrea Kimi Antonelli also collided with the rear of DAMS Lucas Oil driver Jak Crawford car although both were able to continue on for the 22-lap event.
However, after Verschoor had crossed the line to take victory, both he and Trident team mate Roman Stanek were later disqualified for a technical breach.
The Trident #22 and #23 cars were found to have had an incorrect throttle pedal progressivity map installed prior to the race, which was not in compliance with Article 8.2.6 of the Technical Regulations.

As a result, Verschoor lost his victory, while Stanek lost 10th. The disqualification gave MP Motorsport driver Hauger the race win, while promoting Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Aron to second, with Van Amersfoort Racing’s Enzo Fittipaldi moving up to third.
Invicta Racing’s Kush Maini moved up to eighth and into the final points-paying position. For a full in-depth report of the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race, visit the F2 website here.
