Snow joke! Icy conditions delay start of testing on Day 3
No, you’re not seeing things – that really is the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya blanketed in snow…
After two days of running in bitterly cold conditions, the mercury dropped even further on Wednesday morning, with heavy snowfall delaying the start of track action indefinitely.
Circuit officials worked hard to clear the track, but it’s understood that red flag conditions will remain until visibility improves and the medical helicopter is able to fly.
Having already struggled for meaningful running because of the low temperatures, and with icy conditions predicted, the teams had already held discussions about adding an extra day to the test.
However, a unanimous decision is required to alter the schedule, and so far, with multiple factors in play, that has failed to materialise.
In the meantime, as they wait for the track to open, some have been enjoying the unusual conditions more than others…
