The French Grand Prix was raced in scorching temperatures, and tempers certainly frayed on Sunday. Max Verstappen emerged victorious for Red Bull despite trailing his championship rival in the opening stages, while plenty of cars didn’t see the chequered flag. From joy to despair, all the emotions were played out on team radio.
Yuki Tsunoda once again found himself frustrated with traffic, but went on to put in a brilliant qualifying performance. His team mate couldn’t match that in front of a home crowd, disappointment the overriding emotion from Pierre Gasly.
Charles Leclerc’s agonised shriek told you all you needed to know about his chances of getting going again after a mistake left him in the barriers, with Verstappen sportingly checking to see if his rival was okay. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez and George Russell saw their collision very differently, with Toto Wolff having to give his charge a bit of a pep talk.
