
Remembering one of the most intriguing ‘what if?’ moments in F1 history

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, McLaren wrote one of the most successful chapters in their F1 story – the squad racking up four successive Teams’ Championships and four straight Drivers’ Championships with engine partner Honda between 1988-1991.
However, that period of stability and success turned into a spell of change and misfiring performance over the next few years, with Honda pulling the plug on their F1 operations at the end of 1992 amid financial pressures.
