RACE START: Watch as Verstappen holds lead in Austin while Leclerc passes Norris
Max Verstappen made a superb launch to maintain his position at the start of the United States Grand Prix, as Lando Norris lost out to Charles Leclerc.
Max Verstappen made a perfect start to lead Lap 1 at the United States Grand Prix, continuing as he did in Saturday's Sprint.
Verstappen maintained the lead on the opening tour after starting from pole position for the second time this weekend, while McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri avoided any incidents.
But a poor Turn 1 saw Norris drop behind Charles Leclerc into third place, while Piastri was able to gain a position on George Russell, climbing to fifth.
An incident involving Alex Albon and Gabriel Bortoleto breifly caused the double yellow flags to be shown as the former fell to the back of the order, but all 20 cars made it to the end of the first lap.
