Mercedes’ George Russell was pitch perfect in his launch from pole position as the Las Vegas Grand Prix got under way, holding the lead into Turn 1 as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc jumped from P4 to P2.
As the second ever Las Vegas Grand Prix began, there was far less controversy than in the race’s first running in 2023, with all the drivers making it around Lap 1 cleanly.

Leclerc aced his start from P4 on the grid, judging the grip perfectly in Turns 1-3 to slip past the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and his Ferrari team mate Carlos Sainz to take P2.
Meanwhile, two of the toughest racers on the grid – RB’s Liam Lawson and Haas’s Kevin Magnussen – enjoyed a thrilling battle as they duelled for position outside the top 10. Title rivals Max Verstappen and Lando Norris held onto their starting positions of P5 and P6 – with Norris needing to outscore Verstappen by three points in order to keep the title fight alive.
