Melbourne’s Albert Park street track is a fearsome challenge – and that provided some sensational action across both Friday practice sessions for the Australian Grand Prix. Red Bull look strong – but Ferrari’s pace was eye-catching, meaning the reigning world champions may not have it all their own way this weekend.
Ferrari emerge as genuine threat to Red Bull
This Friday couldn’t have gone much better for Ferrari, with a small off for Charles Leclerc at Turn 1 the only real blot on their copybook. Both he and team mate Carlos Sainz – who did an impressive job to get through both sessions, delivering high performance despite only having surgery for appendicitis less than two weeks ago – looked like they were on rails throughout.
