MUST-SEE: Verstappen and Norris go wheel-to-wheel again in gripping Mexico City scrap as title leader cops two penalties
One week on from their headline-making fight in the United States, championship rivals Max Verstappen and Lando Norris scrapped again during the opening laps of the Mexico City Grand Prix – with two wheel-to-wheel moments bringing drama.
Verstappen snatched P1 from pole-sitter Carlos Sainz when the lights went out but dropped back behind following an early Safety Car period, and the Red Bull driver subsequently came under pressure from McLaren rival Norris.
On Lap 10, Norris initially attempted a move around the outside of Turn 4, only to be forced onto the grass, and had another look at Turn 8, where the Briton thought he was ahead of Verstappen again but got pushed wide for a second time.
After looking into the two incidents, the stewards determined that Verstappen deserved to be sanctioned for both, handing the Dutchman a pair of 10-second time penalties that were served ahead of his pit stop.
