McLaren have confirmed that their 2014 car, the MP4-29, has passed all of the mandatory FIA crash tests, clearing the way for the team to participate in next week’s opening pre-season test at Jerez.
Under Formula One rules, a new car must pass all FIA crash tests before it’s allowed to run on track.
McLaren will unveil the car which Jenson Button and rookie team mate Kevin Magnussen will race this season via an online presentation on January 24, four days before testing gets underway in Spain.
