HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the best moments as Piastri tops FP1 at the Belgian Grand Prix
McLaren's Oscar Piastri was fastest in practice for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Oscar Piastri topped the sole practice session at the Belgian Grand Prix from Max Verstappen, ahead of Sprint Qualifying later on Friday.
The championship leader has lost out to his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris at each of the last two weekends, but set his stall early on Friday, with a 1m 42.022s to set the pace. Verstappen was 0.404s back on the benchmark, with Norris a further tenth back.
Ferrari and Mercedes both showed pace with George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton completing positions four to seven.
With lockups, trips to the gravel and traffic difficulties aplenty, the session was far from straightforward.
