HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the best FP1 action from Zandvoort as Norris tops the order
Lando Norris topped the opening practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend.
Lando Norris topped Free Practice 1 at the Dutch Grand Prix as Formula 1 returned to action following the traditional summer break.
The McLaren drivers picked up where they left off, with Norris' 1m 10.278s besting team mate Oscar Piastri by 0.292s.
Aston Martin also enjoyed a strong session, with Lance Stroll third fastest, and Fernando Alonso fourth. Max Verstappen was sixth fastest, behind Alex Albon's Williams. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton struggled for pace in 14th and 15th places respectively for Ferrari.
With strong winds causing problems in the early stages, both Hamilton and Yuki Tsunoda spun and caused brief yellow flag periods. But less than 15 minutes in, Kimi Antonelli caused a stoppage as he locked up at Turn 9 and beached his Mercedes in the gravel, ending his session. Verstappen also found the gravel at Turn 1 after completing a practice start following the conclusion of the session.
