Charles Leclerc overcame a late engine swap ahead of qualifying to claim his third pole position at home for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Having dominated FP2 and FP3, Leclerc had been unnerved by a necessary engine swap in the build-up to qualifying, but shook off those nerves to take pole position with a stunning final lap.
The home hero will be joined on the front row by McLaren’s sophomore driver Oscar Piastri, who showed impressive pace to pip the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz to P2.

It was a harder day for Red Bull, with championship leader Max Verstappen only able to claim P6 after touching the wall at Sainte Devote, as Sergio Perez – along with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso – suffered a shock Q1 exit.
