Former F1 world champion Button to make full-time racing return in 2024 World Endurance Championship

Jenson Button will get back behind the wheel of a race car on a full-time basis in 2024 as he gets set to take on the World Endurance Championship hypercar class.
Button, who started more than 300 races in F1, winning 15 races and the 2009 world title, last contested a full season in the Japan-based Super GT series in 2019 – having recently made an array of one-off outings in several different categories.
However, next year will see Button join the Hertz Team Jota line-up in the WEC, piloting one of two Porsche 963s with fellow British racer Philip Hanson and Danish driver Oliver Rasmussen.

It gives Button a chance to tackle some of the most famous endurance races in motorsport, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while also visiting some of the venues that he raced at during his F1 career such as Imola, Spa, Interlagos, Austin, Fuji and Sakhir.
Button raced for Williams, Benetton/Renault, BAR/Honda, Brawn GP and McLaren between 2000 and 2017, subsequently making the move to Super GT and winning that championship in 2018.

He has since combined punditry work for Sky Sports F1 with sporadic outings in DTM, British GT, Extreme E (where he runs his own team), the Nitro Rallycross Championship and the US-based IMSA SportsCar Championship.
Button also appeared in the 2023 edition of the Le Mans 24-hour race, driving NASCAR’s modified Chevrolet Cup Series race car as the ‘Garage 56’ entry reserved for innovative designs.
