Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto says he is ‘relaxed’ about the post-race investigation the Scuderia are facing in Abu Dhabi, after the squad were referred to the stewards for a fuel discrepancy on Charles Leclerc’s car.
The investigation was announced ahead of Sunday’s race at Yas Island, in which Leclerc eventually finished third behind Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Speaking soon after the podium, Binotto said: “We do not have many details. We are quite relaxed I have to say, because we know the procedures we’re applying.
"But let’s wait what will be the details, let’s try to understand and let’s try eventually to explain if there are any discrepancies.”
The FIA’s Formula One Technical Delegate Jo Bauer had earlier announced Ferrari were being referred to the stewards with a statement that read: “The fuel declaration of car number 16 was checked before the car left the pit-lane. There was a significant difference between the declaration of the team and the amount of fuel inside the car. As this is non in compliance with TD/12-19 I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”
