F3: Freddie Slater takes second-consecutive pole position

It was Freddie Slater’s day once again on a Friday in F3, as the Briton earned his second pole position of the season. Fresh from his first on home turf at Silverstone, the Audi Development Driver took top spot in Spa-Francorchamps, logging a 2m 05.150s.

His fastest effort came on his first attempt, as the session was impacted by rain that gradually increased.

Everyone was eager to get a time on the board early, but the TRIDENT driver made his first lap count, going to the top of the times and staying there until the end.

MP Motorsport and Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy talent Tuukka Taponen got closest, winding up P2 with his best Qualifying result of the season.

Hiyu Yamakoshi was third for Van Amersfoort Racing, but the Japanese driver was involved in a session-ending Red Flag incident.

With just under 10 minutes to go and with the rain threatening to increase to its heaviest level, drivers fought over track position approaching Turn 14. There was contact between Noah Stromsted and Yevan David, leading to Yamakoshi and PREMA Racing’s Jose Garfias suffering contact in the process.

All drivers were OK, but the session was not resumed, leaving Slater P1 once again.
