Correa returns to the track for the first time since Spa crash, sporting Hubert tribute helmet

Eighteen months after a shocking crash at Spa that broke both his legs and saw him put into an induced coma - and which tragically claimed the life of fellow racer Anthoine Hubert - Juan Manuel Correa has recovered from his injuries to make an inspirational return to the racetrack in an FIA Formula 3 test at the Red Bull Ring.

Correa lived with a brace on his leg for more than a year after the Formula 2 crash in Belgium, and underwent several surgeries in a long rehabilitation process.

In Austria, the Ecuadorean-American racer joins Formula 3 race winners ART Grand Prix for the two day test – sporting a tribute helmet in homage to his fallen fellow racer Hubert, with the late Frenchman's own logo on the dome of the helmet.

“I am super thankful to ART Grand Prix; it means a lot to me that they’re believing in me and my comeback. F3 is a transition year, my dream is still to reach F1 and this is the first step in my comeback,” said Correa in February when he announced his return to racing.

There will be two more F3 tests in Spain surrounding the season-opening F3 round at Circuit de Catalunya on May 7-9, which supports the Spanish Grand Prix.
