As temperatures dropped in Miami, Sergio Perez proved the man to beat, with the Red Bull racer topping the timesheets in the third practice session ahead of qualifying.
Perez set a time of 1m 30.304s on the soft compound tyre, finishing the session 0.194s ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc in P2. Max Verstappen finished in P3 – 0.345s behind Perez – despite nearly ending up in the barriers after locking up at the chicane.
It was a good session for Haas, with Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen finishing in P6 and P8, sandwiching Carlos Sainz in P7. Alex Albon continued his fine form to set the ninth-fastest time ahead of Lando Norris in P10.
FP3: Perez leads Leclerc and Verstappen in final Miami GP practice
Mercedes struggled to match the pace they showed on Friday, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell ending the session in P15 and P17 respectively. The session was red-flagged when Esteban Ocon spun into the barriers at Turn 14, in a similar incident to that of Sainz in FP2.
